Rose Maze Busy Bee – July 2015

Hi Rose Maze Helpers
A fabulous busy bee was held this morning where we concentrated on climbers. You can see the determination in Kate and Jane’s eyes in the before pic here taken in front of the huge winter pergola. Have a look at the second picture where these climbers have been pruned and tied into submission. Watch out for fabulous blooms in the spring (if not this year, then next year). By creating a good structure with the climbers, they will be easier to prune in future but it takes a long time.
For this reason we are planning another session on Thursday 30th July at 9.30am where we will tame the other half of this massive pergola and hopefully some of the others too.
Thanks to the 10 or so volunteers who turned up this morning, the inside hedge of African box was pruned and several other climbers. Many thanks to Robyn for the lovely morning tea 🙂
Marina is quite overwhelmed with the number of gardens around town which are in need of her expertise, so any assistance you can offer with helping to maintain the town gardens is greatly appreciated, especially whilst she catches up on the back-log of work. You would have noticed many gardens around town which are already looking more loved since Marina returned to Kojonup a couple of months ago.
One reason for getting the maze into great shape is that there is a Heritage Rose Pre Conference Tour planned in November 2018, based in Kojonup. This will precede a conference in Albany. It is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our town.
Hoping to see you Thursday 6th August around 9.30.
